Pine Valley 5 K

Kade and I ran the Pine Valley 5K. The road was very rocky because it was just a graded gravel road. It had dramatic elevation changes and the last 1 1/2 miles were just up, up, up. I was proud of myself for running the whole thing and not walking. I came in 4th in my age class and ran an 11 minute mile. This is part of my training for the Turkey Triathalon in November. Kade hurt his knee during the race so we are going to see a physical therapist that can possibly help.

Kya's 1st day of Preschool!

Kya had her first day at "Watch Me Grow" Preschool. We love Miss Julie and Grandma Smith that run it. They are so good to our girls! Kya was soooo happy to finally get to go to preschool. It will be a very fun year for her!

Kari's 1st day of KINDERGARTEN!!!

This is a HUGE day for us! I was way more nervous for Kari than she was. The best part to her was that she got to take a lunch. She has full day Kindergarten at Dixie Sun Elementary, a Bi-lingual Elementary School. Her paper is in Spanish and says "My First Day of School". Her main teacher is Professora Cha (pronounced KAH) and they only speak Spanish in her class. Kari has Professora Cha on 'A' Days. On 'B' Days she has Mrs. Lee (who knows the Cheesman family from when she went to school) and they speak English in her class. We are so excited for Kari to be in school and so is Kari! Kari already reads a little in English so we can really focus on the Spanish homework at home as well as the English since she is a little ahead in English. This will be a great school year!

Dinner with the Mortensen's

We have a goal of having each of our neighbors over for dinner at least once before next summer. We invited the Mortensen Family over for Japanese Hibachi Dinner. In the picture is Dustin (Kade and I went to High School with him) Maygen, and their twin daughters Laycee and Lindsay (they have a three month old son Mason also). Kya and Kari love playing hostess to our guests. Unfortunatley our great neighbors are moving to Hurricane. We will miss them and look forward to when they visit.

The Dinosaur Park in Ogden

We went on an adventure to the Dinosaur Park in Ogden. We talked a lot before about how the dinosaurs died and how the things we were going to see were not alive. We learned how to tell if the dinosaur ate meat or plants by the kind of teeth it has. We looked at many different dinosaurs and the girls really enjoyed pretending to be scared at some of them as we walked around the grounds of the park. They did a great job figuring out what they ate and why they had horns or big plates or claws. Now we know lots about dinosaurs and we will probably be back in the future to enjoy the park.

We took some really fun pictures at their playground and posing stands. After we enjoyed the park we went to Kelli’s favorite restaurant in Perry called Maddox. We ate Bison Chicken Fried Steak and it was fantastic, so were the rolls, raspberry butter, sea food cotail and sasparilla (Kade had Cream Soda). Everything there is homemade, even the drinks, and the Bison is raised on their ranch. We give it a five star rating!

Great Grandma Millie Foster Cheesman

Great Grandma Millie Foster Cheesman is Kade’s Grandma. We went to visit in Orem and introduce her to baby Kolden. It was nice to get some pictures with her. We appreciate her hospitality for allowing us to stay at her home. She is such a classy lady with lots of neat things she has collected from many travels around the world. She is a gracious hostess and puts on a dinner for any family that can attend on the first Sunday of each month. She is in her early 80’s and always likes to know what is going on with the family. She has 6 children and currently 27 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way.

Kari, Kya and Kiera sang many songs from the Children's Hymn Book for Great Grandma Millie while she fed Kolden.

Sleeping Boys

New Baby Cousin Livy!

This is a great story! We were up camping on Beaver Mountain for the 24^th of July and Aunt Hillary (36 weeks pregnant) went on a rhino ride with Uncle Kyler. Early the next morning around 4:30am Hillary’s water broke! They rushed her down the mountain and to Beaver Hospital. From there they took her by ambulance to Utah Valley Hospital and got her on some petosin to speed up the labor and an epidural. Around 3:30ish pm little Livy Pearl Cheesman was born! She weighed 5 lbs 12oz and was 18.5 in. She was in NICU for a few hours and then she was doing great. Isn’t she beautiful! Livy is one week old in this picture.
